We (my husband, my 3 kids and myself) are currently in the process of preparing for, what some might call, a once in a lifetime trip. I hope that is not what it turns out to be. I don’t want this to be the best time of our life. I want this to be the beginning.
At the end of March next year (2016) we are setting off overseas.
Our current place of abode is Cairns QLD in Australia where we have lived for the last 12 years – A tropical paradise in it’s own right, but we are ready for more.
The first port of call will be New Zealand for 2 weeks and then onto America for an across the country trip spread over several months. When we arrive in the USA our plan is to purchase a van of some description and renovate it to serve our purposes. I plan on documenting the reno and then the ensuing adventure. The good the bad and the ugly.
The outcome of this, we hope, is a continuation of a life ‘outside the box’. We’ve never felt comfortable with ten year plans, mortgages and 9-5 jobs although sometimes life has required that of us. Those times have taught us the great lesson of being content in every situation (well…most of the time). If you rely on your circumstances to make you happy, you will probably find that life isn’t as full of joy as it could be.
And so here we are…preparing…planning…and trying not to miss out on the next several months by allowing our minds to leave before we do!
